Friday Afternoon Note

Fall has been creeping in stealthily, as our night-time lows inch lower by a degree every couple of  days. Yesterday I noticed that a lot of leaves turned yellow within the last day or two. Suddenly, our tiny patch of front yard had brown grass for the first time. This summer hasn't been sunny enough to feel like summer, and many folks are muttering about the impending autumn weather.

But it was 43 this morning, and we closed the windows and ran the furnace just one cycle, to take the chill out of the air. It's 60 now, and could be a bit warmer tomorrow ... but we all know what's coming.

Every year, I find that I dread the first snowfall - until it actually snows. I'm like a kid at Christmas when the first serious snowfall occurs. I love it, but still want to hang onto summer as long as I can.

Y'all have a great weekend!

Signs of fall are a bit more subtle here now, but yet they are here. High today was 81, going to the low sixties tonight.

Have a great weekend Shepard! Me, I'm off to the Friends of the NRA event tomorrow.

Jenny, it seems you did alright for yourself ... but we still miss you. And Miss D, too.

After a very long hot summer, I'm ready. Favorite time of years. The tourists are gone, the mosquito hatch is over, and we haven't had enough snow for skiers.
