Spyderco Knife

My first one. I've been using a small-ish Sheffield pocket knife w/ belt clip, but passed it on to a daughter.

Because I've seen that many of the bloggers I respect have Spyderco knives, I figured it was about time.  This one's a Delica 4, with a two and 13/16 inch blade:

Good knives and I've carried them in the past, but not recently. They tend to get jerked out of my pocket when I get out of my car, and they cause too much wear on my pockets. These days I wear a sheath knife instead.

Bob, I'll keep it in mind; I wear mine on the left, so maybe that will make a difference.

I have several and love them. I prefer tip up carry(pocket clip at the bottom). I find that I can open it up much faster and easier since my hand is already in the holding position, plus in a pinch I can get the tip open in my pocket and open it fully on my pocket-bad news is that you go through a lot of pants this way. Enjoy

Hillbilly, for whatever reason I prefer tip down; any other way just doesn't "feel" right. Just a quirk, I suppose. Thanks.

Hey, I love your opening picture. Where in Alaska is this if you don't mind me asking?
Knives come in handy all the time, I enjoy carrying them. The Spyderco, good choice :-)

I've got a couple of their "ClipIt Rescue" knives. These have a blunt tip, a fully serrated blade, and are used by EMT/Paramedics to cut seat belts. The blunt tip makes it easy to slip between the belt and the person without worrying about slicing them any worse than they might be.
It's useless for stabbing (by design), but it sure can hack through stuff!

Sandy, the picture was taken at Hatcher Pass, about 15 miles northeast of Palmer.

drjim, understood. I'll keep that in mind for the next purchase. :)

I love my Spderco, but agree about the wear on the pockets with the clip. Guess that is why I wear Woolrich or 5.11's. They are reinforced at the pockets for such stuff.
