Petition for Alaskan Independence

Jenny just brought this to my attention:

We petition the obama administration to:

Peacefully grant the State of Alaska to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.

As the founding fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:

"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

"...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government..."

Something like 23 states have done this. I heard the TX one has enough signatures to require a response from the WH.

So if y'all do it, will you save us a spot in the refugee line until we get settled? :p

I'm quite certain there would be a mass migration toward any state which seceded. Some states need the extra people, some might not. I suspect AK would. :)
