A Prayer

Father God, please wrap your arms tightly around the families of the victims, as well as the survivors in Connecticut. Let them feel your love and compassion, and let them understand they are not alone in all this senselessness.

Help the rest of us, Lord, as we struggle through the aftermath and do what humans do best: try to make sense of story of an apparently deeply-troubled young man who snapped and murdered so many. It's beyond us, Father, and perhaps that's your blessing to us, in disguise. Either way, we need your help.

We ask it in Jesus' name, Father. Amen.

Your post on this subject was inspired by the Angels of our better nature. I wish I could say the same for mine.

Borepatch, I must admit that I recognized the sentiment behind what you wrote, and I share them. Virtually-meaningless, "warm fuzzy" feelgood moments that don't help anyone are a waste of time.
