It's Warm. TOO Warm.

We're having an unseasonable warming trend, with overnight temps in the upper 20s. Accu-Hunch Weather is guessing we could even reach the mid-30s by tomorrow, with a possible rain/snow mix. Yuck.

We Alaskans handle deep snow very well. Ice? Not so much. Good thing it will be over the weekend, so we can stay in while others play dodge 'em/bumper cars on the roads.

There's very little else of interest in local news; it doesn't even interest us, and we live here. Ah well, it can't be fascinating all the time.

Two items caught my eye this morning. One was an item from the most recent Unalaska police blotter:
Theft – Caller reported his hamster had been pinched, taken from its cage inside a parked vehicle while the caller was inside Safeway. A short time later, the caller reported his rodent, apparently not stolen after all, had been enticed back to its home by a trail of food.

The other item was that the "Occupy Mom's Basement" crowd staged a small demonstration on Dec. 12 at the Port of Anchorage. The part that's interesting is that there was no local coverage of the protest.

Cool.   :^)

About the "occupy" business...

I wish the lack of coverage was like that everywhere. Giving these folks any coverage is like feeding blog trolls.

You're right, Matt. I was thinking the same thing ... but you said it first. :)

We got a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain twice this week, and the day/night temps have put us into that freeze/thaw cycle that can make our roads so much fun. I just chiseled the sloped end of my driveway out enough to get the SUV up into my front yard before the next storm starts tonight.

LOL, I'm surprised the "rat" survived the cold...

PH, I hate ice storms with a passion; we experienced LOTS of them back in the Midwest. Only had one or two up here, and they've been minor.

NFO, me too. :)
