We Alaskans handle deep snow very well. Ice? Not so much. Good thing it will be over the weekend, so we can stay in while others play dodge 'em/bumper cars on the roads.

There's very little else of interest in local news; it doesn't even interest us, and we live here. Ah well, it can't be fascinating all the time.
Two items caught my eye this morning. One was an item from the most recent Unalaska police blotter:
Theft – Caller reported his hamster had been pinched, taken from its cage inside a parked vehicle while the caller was inside Safeway. A short time later, the caller reported his rodent, apparently not stolen after all, had been enticed back to its home by a trail of food.* * * * *
The other item was that the "Occupy Mom's Basement" crowd staged a small demonstration on Dec. 12 at the Port of Anchorage. The part that's interesting is that there was no local coverage of the protest.
