Iron Dog 2013: Day 1 Report

The Iron Dog, Alaska's 2,000 mile snowmachine race, began yesterday.

After spending over six hours on the Iron Dog trails, the top teams have already covered more than 300 miles early Sunday evening.

The next stop is McGrath where early weather forecasts expected to dip as low as negative 27 degrees Sunday night.
Today, Day 2 of the event, is a required layover at McGrath, where the racers are awaiting the next leg of the trek.

Looks like they got enough snow for the event to be held! :-)

NFO, that area rec'd some 5" to 8" a few days ago.
