In an Associated Press story at www.adn.com,
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska State Troopers say a 41-year-old Fairbanks man is safe after being rescued from a deep crevasse near Delta Junction.
Troopers say Tom Douglas was among snowmobilers conducting ice and snow tests Thursday for the Delta Soil and Water Conservation around Jarvis Glacier.
Douglas was leading a group of snowmobilers when he and his machine fell into a crevasse. He fell before landing on a ledge at least 75 feet and his snowmobile was wedged into a narrow space 30 feet above him.
I can tell it was written it was written by someone Outside, because we call 'em "snowmachines" up here. But the rider is a VERY fortunate fellow!
