Katmai Bears are On the Air

Grizzlies in the Katmai National Park, Alaska, have been fascinating the few visitors who can afford a rather spendy visit each year.

Explore.org has a live webcam at the Brooks Falls, so you can watch the bears fishing for salmon, in their natural habitat.

That is about the closest I want to get to them.

While I understand the Katmai grizzlies are accustomed to the presence of onlookers, those people are safely elevated on a walkway, and some distance from the water. I wouldn't get any closer, either.

Rev. Paul,

We used to have brown bears come right up to our house in Marquette, Michigan. I remember as a kid having the bear come right up to where we were fishing and wait for our fish so they wouldn't have to fish themselves.

Sandy, some of the browns here do the same things, but many of them get a mite touchy about all those humans invading their space ... and they charge & otherwise run off the interlopers. AND they take their fish. :)
