Three motorcyclists were injured on the Parks Highway near Healy Sunday night, one of them seriously, when Alaska State Troopers say four motorcycles in a group of six rear-ended a sedan.I know drivers tend to crowd or otherwise disrespect bikers, but there are better reminders than sequentially ramming the car ahead. Seriously though, I'm glad no one was killed.

A man accused of a burglary at a Midtown store has been properly identified as 35-year-old Milton Glenn LeBlanc after he gave police a false identity when he was arrested Friday, according to the Anchorage Police Department.The really, really stupid part? The identity he provided is a local one, a guy who promptly called the APD when he read his name in the initial report on the local paper's website.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska—The U.S. Army ignored warnings from the Fort Wainwright Fire Department and the Bureau of Land Management against holding artillery exercises during a day of high fire risk in June.
Army leadership declined to say whether the training ignited an 85,000-acre wildfire, but last month, the Fort Wainwright garrison commander said base training exercises were responsible.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports state Army leadership has decided to re-evaluate the procedures used to decide whether to conduct training during "red flag" conditions when risk of fire is high.Isn't that big of them? 85,000 acres, and hundreds of homes threatened (and more than a few burned) ... sigh.
