First Snow of the Season

Anchorage, and much of the surrounding area, got it's first measurable snowfall over the last 24 to 36 hours.

Picture found at www.adn.com this afternoon.

Depending on location in town, and elevation above sea level, Anchorage got anywhere from 1/2 inch to 6 inches since yesterday.

LOL It is way too early for pics like that. You should suffer some penalty or something.

Like maybe you hafta read 10 articles from Salon or Huffington post or something.

Looks like the wet, slushy stuff - good for making snowmen!

Ack! We dodged the first frost last night, but it was real close.

eiaftinfo - we seem to be about six weeks ahead of your part of the Midwest, re: when fall & winter set in. So be ye warned. :)

Preppy - isn't there a Constitution protection against such cruel & unusual punishment?

Chickenmom - that it is, and we don't get much wet snow. 99% of what falls over the winter here is powder. The only reason this is slushy is because it's so early.

threecollie, it won't be long now, for y'all.

If you can't control it, enjoy it. And make everyone shiver by posting a picture of it!

You make it sound so sinister, Max. Bwaahahahahaha (mine is an evil laugh!)

I think I'll stick with being "down south" ;) OTOH I have seen an abundance of wooly worms this year. I really hope this doesn't mean an abundance of snow. LOL.

Teresa, a cold winter in the Lower 48 would just be another poke in the eye for the global warming hoax crowd, but I know it's not what the rest of you want.

It'd be funny, though. :)

Rev. Paul,

Oh how I dread the days of snow shoveling, and scraping windows. It's to early for us, please......please keep it there in Alaska.

I hear you, Sandy, and will see what we can do. :)
