The University of Alaska Anchorage's Justice Center looks at crime data in the state, and recently, the center published a fact sheet looking at crime data compiled by local law enforcement and the FBI from 1985 until 2012.
The data focused on three types of violent crimes: homicide, burglary and aggravated assault.
Researcher Khristy Parker said some of the results about weapons were not quite what they expected.
"The proportion of crimes committed with firearms is decreasing. The amount committed with knives or cutting instruments has increased almost three fold," Parker said. (emphasis added)
So with "Constitutional carry", meaning that anyone who is legally able to purchase a firearm can carry one, openly or concealed, and practically everyone does.
And yet, "[t]he proportion of crimes committed with firearms is decreasing."
It's so simple, it takes a politician to screw it up. :)
