The Rustic Goat

Yesterday was Younger Daughter's 19th birthday, and she wanted dinner at a new-ish restaurant in Anchorage called The Rustic Goat.

It's owned and operated by a local coffee company, and this image will probably have Peter, Miss D, and Jenny S. sighing and wishing they were here:

He watches while you eat :)

Four-cheese gnocchi

Fresh salmon with blueberries, balsamic dressing on a bed of potato coins and various chopped veggies

Apple crostata - baked tart with Granny Smith apples, brandy caramel
sauce and housemade caramel gelato

Now your channeling Brigid, posting about food, and making me hungry!

Guffaw, there are worse people to emulate, you know. :)

Yuck. Why mask such wonderful looking salmon with blueberries? Give em to me separate so I can savor the flavor of each uncorrupted.

Sorry I have always had very simple taste when it comes to food and rarely appreciate sauces, garnishes and such. About the only seasoning I use is salt too.

Preppy, it wasn't my favorite, either. But I made do. :)

Hope glass has become more insulating then when I was doing skylights some 40 years ago. The heating bill on that building I would find daunting.

WSF, it's triple-glazed panes with inert gas ... so it'll be energy-efficient for a few years until all the gas escapes & replaced by outside air. And moisture.

I would have been jealous to see all that lovely Alaskan food, but since Miss D. and I are currently on holiday at the coast (of the Gulf of Mexico rather than the Gulf of Alaska), we're enjoying lots of lovely seafood here too. Grouper, flounder, crabs, clams, shrimp . . . yummy!

but no Kaladis... sigh. I miss Kaladis.

If they do food a quarter as well as they do coffee... yum.

Peter, I understand. But there's something about cold-water seafood that the Gulf of Mexico just can't match.

Wing, I didn't mention the coffee, but it's there. And if/when you come back, I'll gladly take you both to The Goat. :)
