Video: Northern Lights

Alaska Dispatch News

Photographer Ronn Murray shot real-time video footage of autumn aurora in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Murray's video captures northern lights so strong they overpower the nearly full moon and cloudy skies.

(Note: I recommend you watch in full-screen mode)

Yep, sounds like the photographer wasn't far from the base when he captured this.

Beautiful! I remember when I was a very little girl, my father woke me up and took me outside to see them. Very rare here in Jersey.

Understood, ma'am. They're moving west with the magnetic pole, too, and will eventually be over Siberia.

Rev. Paul,

We used to watch the northern lights up in Marquette, Michigan.

Every once and a while they say we can see them here in OK. I haven't seen them yet.

Vicki - glad you liked 'em. It's a spectacular display.

Sandy, I've heard that, too. Saw them once in Missouri, in 45 years.

I'll never tire of these silent glorious light shows. Have only personally seen them a few times. They leave an impression :)

Cathy, I agree - but you should know they're not silent. When you're away from the noise of a town, you can hear the lights hum. It's an amazing thing.
