Just Watching It Snow

The local highway page on Facebook is full of warnings to stay off the roads. Multiple accidents, including at least one fatality. And one in which people trapped in unmoving jams for a long time attempted to use an on-ramp to get off the highway, hitting another head-on.

One guy even slammed into a responding Chugiak fire engine so hard that the fire engine may have to be scrapped. Wouldn't want to be him when the insurance company gets that bill.

But we haven't gone out today, and don't have any plans to do so. That forecast of "one inch or less" is just a footnote to a joke, now, as it has been snowing steadily since the wee hours this morning.

Our back yard. We haven't been out there since the heavier snows began,
and the compacted snow depth is somewhere in the 30" range.

That's my favorite way to have winter...sit inside and watch it snow, without having to go out in it :) In front of a nice fire is a bonus.

Hope you had a very nice Sunday.

Wow. That is a very lovely view - and a very good idea. Amazing how good sense seems to leave people when bad weather happens and they insist on going out.

TB, agreed on both points. There was no place we needed to be yesterday (apart from home), and so we didn't even leave the house.

Rev. Paul,
A view worth keeping for a while :-) I'm thinking the view shouldn't be touched until most of the ice/snow has melted.

Sandy, we probably won't go into the back yard until most of the snow is gone. At this point, the snow is compacted so densely that we'd have trouble breaking trail, anyhow. :)
